Frequently Asked Questions
Q: When will the lobby renovation be complete?
The lobby is on schedule to be substantially completed at the end of April, 2026.
Q: When will the 2nd floor amenity center be completed and open?
The CommonGround amenity center is on schedule be completed in late Summer, 2026.
Q: What is the purpose of the ongoing elevator modernization work?
The elevator modernization will provide a wide array of enhancements to the building experience through improved security, reliability, and performance. Most notably, elevator performance will improve by more than 20% through destination dispatch’s smart dispatching technology. Further, by integrating with the new access control system, security is improved with controlled access not only at the new gated turnstiles but also at floor-selection, by requiring users to have the proper credentials to select any floor(s) in the building at the elevator kiosk. Security will be further enhance with CCTV cameras being added to the elevators as part of the cab interior renovations. In addition to the enhanced security, the elevators will also be more reliable with all-new equipment, and offer new, state-of-the-art safety equipment and ADA accessibility options.
Q: What is Destination Dispatch and how will it work and improve performance?
Using destination dispatch is as easy as 1, 2, 3 - users simply present their access credential at the touchscreen kiosk, select their floor, and proceed to their assigned elevator.
This smart dispatching works by intelligently grouping people going to like-floors together in the same elevator, so that elevators make fewer stops on each trip. This intelligent dispatching conservatively results in a 20%+ improvement in overall elevator performance and time-to-destination. Not only do actual wait times improve, but the experience improves as well with less crowding, and less shuffling to let people out of the elevators during busy times. Performance will be further enhanced through integrating the new lobby turnstiles with the elevator destination dispatch system. Once operating on destination dispatch, users will be able to select their floor at the turnstile, instead of at the kiosk within the elevator lobby. This turns the walk-time from the turnstile into part of the wait-time, and eliminates any crowding around the elevator call kiosk.
Q: Why do some elevators have keypads to punch in floor numbers, and some still have buttons?
This is part of the transition phase from traditional up/down dispatching, to smart destination dispatching. As elevators are modernized one-at-a-time, when an elevator is returned to service, it temporarily has a keypad in the elevator to input floors, similar to the buttons on the existing cabs. These keypads and buttons will all go away once dispatch is live, when the last cab in the group is taken out to be modernized. At that time, users will then be able to select their floor from the touchscreen kiosk in the elevator lobbies instead of from inside the elevator.
